Knowing of each other was not difficult when you live in a small town of Cobram, but it wasn’t until July 2005 that these two finally officially got together at the Country Football Club Ball.
It was 9 years later on their Anniversary that Dan proposed. They never usually did anything special for their anniversary, however this year Dan decided to plan the whole day and not tell Alex a thing. All she knew was what time to be ready! A private car picked them up and took them to the Yarra Valley. They spent the morning tasting wines and had lunch at Oakridge. After lunch they were driven back into the city where Dan had planned drinks at The Lui Bar – Vue de Monde. During the car trip Dan presented Alex with tickets to The King and I at the Princess Theatre. So after the most amazing view, drinks and nibbles off they went to the theatre. After the show Dan suggested we walk up to Lygon Street for dessert. As they were walking through Carlton Gardens on the way to Lygon Street, Dan stopped and pulled Alex aside, got down on one knee and popped the question! Lygon Street was a decoy to get to Carlton Gardens, as that is where he wanted to propose. It was an amazing day, Alex recalls, full of surprises and being absolutely spoilt. Dan planned the whole day to include things they enjoyed doing together – good food and wine, theatre, getting out and about, and the view from the bar was to represent the water (fishing, beach etc) Dan’s favourite past time.
Alex & Dan’s wedding day celebrations were a day of magic for the two, with a ceremony in the Aboriginal Galleria in the Melbourne Museum surrounded by family and friends. The rain didn’t dampen these guys spirits in anyway when we headed out to the Carlton Gardens for photos as you will see from the images below. The St Andrews Conservatory put on quiet a show for the reception, it was a great night had by all.
